CD / SPECIAL DRAMA CD feat.Hazuki (Noto Mamiko)

Yami to Boushi to Hon no Tabibito DVD Special Box

how much is this and how can i buy it ???

    1. Hi,

The set pictured above (that I own) is not for sale, and I bought it for 35000yen/285USD (maybe it was more at the time, I don’t remember how was the exchange rate in 2006).

This set is also now out of print but the Blu-ray Box released in 2013 is still available at CDJapan or Amazon.co.jp. Everything in this set is in the BD-Box + the two sound drama and the special drama feat. Hazuki (on the BD Disc) + the OST on CD. At 19500yen/~160USD, it’s clearly a better deal. Even cheaper right now on Amazon.co.jp at 15859yen/~130USD.

Also, the show is supposed to be released someday by Media Blasters in the US but… no news since more than a year, so I don’t know. I haven’t bought the JP BD-Box because of this announcement but I may have to reconsider at some point.

      I hope I answered your questions : )

I dont know if this blog is still active, but i have a question regarding the special drama, you say its after the last episode so can it be considered as the real ending of the series?

Because if it is why they didn’t anímate it? Given how the series is pretty much unkown by everyone, and those who watched it want to forget it, maybe this story could have changed the general opinión of this series, or make it worse. But that depends what’s the story about given tiene is mo synopsis of it.

    Thanks for your attention.

    1. Sorry for the late reply, I read the email notification then work made me forget about it.

I had to listen to it again and I have lost quite a bit of my basic japanese understanding, so I’m still not very sure of all that goes through Hazuki mind (it’s really weird). But from what I could understand, I have the feeling that it’s trying to explain/justify the end of the series. So I’d say it’s more of a prolongation rather than a “real” ending.

I guess that’s why they didn’t animate it, plus it was certainly way cheaper to do it that way.

      I hope that helped a little :)

I’m the same person who wrote before, thank you so much for your answer.
Guess the staff wanted that ending at all costs and despite the Drama being made to “salvage it” it didn’t make a change of perception between the fandom and potential buyers, or even prevent to pushing more the series into more obscurity, something the Touka Gettan’s episode about Yamibou didn’t help too.
I agree with you it was more cheaper to make, and it was a time where Picture Drama wasn’t a thing yet. However when they made the BD-Box they at least should have made it a Picture drama version of it, instead of including the ost as the special thing not included in previous versions.
    Again, thanks for your answer.

    1. Mm, I guess all those different release were more for the hardcore fan than the casual. 3 different editions of one series is rather rare, even more for this kind of niche series. All about milking it to the max.
Plus honestly: at the time Noto Mamiko was popular and this Drama-CD was 90% of my reason to buy this DVD set. I just love her voice :)
I still have to buy this BD-Box though, and I’ll have to use a proxy to do it now… Maybe I’ll finally do it this year, I really need a 4th version XD (if I add the US release to the count).

And no problem, you’re welcome :)
